Turritella Agate is a stone that does not merely suggest the passage of time — it contains it, visibly, within every centimetre of its surface, a fossil record of ancient life preserved in silica for fifty million years.

Color: Deep brown to warm black and rich mahogany, densely patterned with the pale cream and grey spiral cross-sections of fossilised freshwater snails — each tiny shell a perfect, miniature architectural marvel embedded within the stone's dark, earthy matrix.

✦ Despite its name, the fossils within Turritella Agate are not actually Turritella snails — they are Elimia tenera, a freshwater gastropod that lived in the vast ancient lake that once covered parts of Wyoming and Utah approximately 50 million years ago. When the lake bed dried and silicified over geological time, the shells were replaced molecule by molecule with chalcedony, preserving their forms with extraordinary fidelity. The misnomer has simply endured too long to correct.
