Purple labradorite is among the rarest and most coveted varieties of labradorite — a feldspar mineral celebrated for its extraordinary optical phenomenon known as labradorescence. In purple labradorite, this effect manifests as deep violet, indigo, and blue-purple flashes that seem to move and shift from within the stone as the angle of light changes.
